CAMP UPDATES

UPDATE: July 19, 2023

Hey there, CG fam. I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. I know I said I would get this out sooner, but I wanted to have another chance today to tell you all in person before I sent out this letter since it is hard to portray the sincerity of my message in writing. So thank you for your patience.

So here it is. I’m writing you with a very heavy heart as I have made the difficult decision to step away from Camp Gladiator. This decision was not easy and was the last thing I wanted to do as I tried to push through the last month and scaled back as much as I could, but ultimately my body was telling me otherwise. So after speaking with my doctors, family, and friends last week, I came to this decision over the weekend. And as much as I wish I could promise my return, the uncertainty of my recovery makes it impossible to say I’ll be back. I just don’t know.

So, I would love it if you could come out this week to either my Thursday evening class at 6:15 PM or Friday morning at 6:00 AM, as those will be my final classes.

However, classes will continue in my departure as Coach Wendy will take over both AM & PM classes. I know most people hate change, especially regarding their trainer. But please know, I promise you are in good hands. Most of my morning crew are familiar with Wendy, but if you haven’t had a chance to train or meet Wendy, she has a phenomenal background in training and is one of the most realist humans I know! There is no doubt in my mind that Wendy is going to take good care of you.

Wendy will start to take over next week. However, a few things to keep in mind. She lives in Titusville, a minimum of 30-minute commute each way. So she has to cut camp back to 2 days a week on Monday and Wednesday at 6:00 AM & 6:15 PM in the same locations.

Furthermore, she has other commitments she is already committed to, so in the next few weeks, the schedule will be a little wonky, which I will post below. My ask is that you please give her a chance. She is picking up these classes to be there for you since I can’t be there at this time.

Thank you for standing behind me, believing in me, and trusting me to lead you on your fitness journey. Your commitment to your health and fitness has been inspiring to me, and it’s been an honor to be your coach over the years.

Additionally, thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging period. Your well-wishes and positive thoughts mean the world to me. Please keep embracing the journey to fitness, and know that I am rooting for each of you from afar.

Again, as much as I wish I could guarantee my return, I cannot make any promises now. Nevertheless, the memories we've shared will remain close to my heart, and I will cherish them always. Moving forward, please give Wendy the same warmth and encouragement you've given me.

Thank you for being an essential part of my life, and I hope to see you all at camp either Thursday or Friday this week.

In health,

❤️ Amy

🚨PS. Please do not post anything on social media, until I make it public tomorrow as I try to share this with as many of you face-to-face along with my fellow colleagues. Thank you!

Schedule Starting Next Week, Monday, July 24, 2023

UPDATE: June 9, 2023

Hey CG Fam! I’m going stir-crazy, and I miss you all more than ever. I hope you all are finding a way to stay active in my absence. If you’re snuggling, don’t hesitate to contact me or your fellow battle buddies here. We are all here to support each other! Remember #BetterTogether, and I seriously can’t wait until we are all back together!

Furthermore, I do have an important update to share. Unfortunately, I must extend the class cancellation for another week. As promised to stay transparent with you, here is what’s going on with me and why I must extend class cancelation another week.

As you know, I was in the ER this past Sunday. Whelp, I was back on Wednesday as I had a second allergic reaction that was more serious than the first ER trip because I was in anaphylaxis. Yes, it was scary, but I had the full reception of the ER department upon my arrival, and I am ok, and they had me back home resting the same day.

However, as a result, my healthcare providers have prescribed a more potent steroid for my recovery and want me to gradually reduce the dosage and conduct further lab tests to understand my condition better. This also means they don’t want me out in the heat or adding additional stress to my body until I’m off the steroids and have my blood work done.

If everything goes as planned, I will be winged off the steroids by Sunday, and I have extensive bloodwork scheduled on Tuesday, testing for Allergies, Auto-Immune, and Lyme disease. I will have the rest of the week to get reacquainted with the heat, and my healthcare providers believe I will back out in action the following week.

If, for some reason, I can’t be back out in action full-time, I’m looking into hiring a sub to cover me until I can be.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused, but my health and well-being must come first. I truly appreciate your understanding and support during this challenging time, and I'll keep you updated on my progress and when classes officially resume.

Take care, stay active, and be well.

❤️Amy

June 4, 2023,

Hey there, CG fam. I hope you're all doing well. Unfortunately, I'll be canceling classes for the entire week due to unexpected health concerns related to my shoulder and hips. You all have always been open to sharing with me what’s going on in your lives, so I want to be as transparent with you as you are with me.

Over the past month, both shoulders and hips have been in pain at different times. But over the weekend, both shoulders and hips flared up in pain. Then last night, my face started to swell. When I woke up this morning, I had no change in my face swelling, and the pain in my hips and shoulders made it difficult to do simple tasks, like standing up on my own. So Tom took me to the ER to have some tests done.

I’m just returning from my Sunday Visit to our local East Orlando ER, and although the doctor and nursing staff were helpful, there are better ways to spend your Sunday. So I don’t recommend doing the same unless you like to get subjected to being poked and prodded while being asked the same question a million times.

My trip to the ER didn’t yield definitive answers, but it offered some relief and pointed me toward a possible autoimmune disease. But, as some of you may know, this is the beginning of a long journey ahead.

At this time, I need to prioritize my well-being so I can come back stronger for all of you. I apologize for any inconvenience caused, and I appreciate your understanding and support during this time. Take this opportunity to rest, recover, and engage in some self-care. I'll keep you updated on my progress and when classes will resume. Stay positive, and keep up the great work on your fitness journeys.

If you need to reach out to me for anything CG related or personal, please use my personal business number (689) 257-0380. I'm open to you sharing any advice as I navigate this journey.

I look forward to seeing you all next week!

CG STRONG,

❤️Amy
